How freaking cool is the background story for this piece:
“Two women is embroidered in slate, red and mustard on beautiful homespun linen that is between 80-120 years old. The porcelain doll arms are from Germany and were dug from the earth from the grounds of an old doll factory that operated between 1890-1920.”
Stitch artist Cindy Steiler’s grandmother (Mary) taught her to sew. You can read her full bio on etsy. Also, my current girl crush, Christina Hendricks lauded Cindy’s work in Lucky Magazine. How awesome is that?!
And it’s no wonder really. These textile dioramas are too cool—quirky, and beautifully detailed.
