Meet Lotta Pia-Kallio, a textile artist (well, she works in other media too) from Finland. Here’s her bio (source):
Born in 1969 Rauma, FinlandAn artisan and Master of Education. Graduated art teacher from the University of Art and Design Helsinki in 2001 and currently works as an artist and visual arts lecturer. Has participated in both domestic and foreign exhibitions since 1996. Her works have been bought into the collections of Salo and City of Helsinki Art Museums.” I am interested in small stories and traces left by different events. My favourite materials and media are textile, photographs and video. I also make art of used objects, reassemble pieces into new stories and realities. My works often reflect the past: I try to catch the time passing by, understand the events around me, rewind and play in slow motion.”
And here is a sampling of her intricate work:
More installations and embroidery on her website. Enjoy!
